Syracuse Sweat Club COVID-19 Safety Plan

Updated: August 20, 2020 in accordance with NYS guidelines, CDC recommendations, and Syracuse Sweat Club best in class standards

 

Screening

  • Do not come to gym if you have: (1) experienced COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days, (2) received a positive COVID-19 diagnostic test result in the past 14 days, (3) had close contact with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case in the past 14 days, (4) traveled within a state with significant community spread of COVID-19 for longer than 24 hours within the past 14 days (pursuant to the DOH travel advisory).
  • Visitors must attest to screening criteria above and have temperature checked by thermal thermometer. Those with readings above 100.00 Fahrenheit will be sent home.
  • No drop in visitors, members only.
  • Anyone displaying symptoms of illness will be sent home.
  • Vulnerable populations are advised to avoid the gym.
  • Staff members complete biweekly diagnostic testing.

 

Limited Attendance

  • Total capacity limited to 38 people (33% of occupancy rating).
  • All client visits are by appointment only.
  • Members operate on a staggered class schedule –Monday/Wednesday/Friday OR Tuesday/Thursday/Weekends to establish cohorts and reduce exposure.
  • Members use Zen Planner app to check in for class upon arrival; all others (staff, personal training clients, open gym athletes, and other visitors) sign in on visitor log at front desk.

 

Space and Equipment Management

  • Controlled ingress and egress – main door is used for entry, secondary doors in our group and personal training spaces are exits.
  • Maintain minimum of 6’ social distancing at all times.
  • No congregating in lobbies or common areas.
  • Locker rooms are single person occupancy and are open for toilet and hand washing only – please arrive dressed to work out, and change and shower off site.
  • Every client has a designated 8’x 8’ workout space, defined by grids taped on the floors.
  • No equipment sharing – grids will be individually equipped.
  • Signage placed throughout space to remind patrons of hygiene, social distancing, PPE, disinfection and cleaning protocols.

 

Sanitation & PPE

  • Face coverings are required at all times. Acceptable face coverings include, but are not limited to, cloth (e.g., homemade sewn, quick cut), surgical masks, and N95 respirators that are appropriate for exercise. Bandanas, buffs, and gaiters are not acceptable face coverings for use in gyms and fitness centers.
  • Every person must wash/sanitize hands immediately upon entering facility and before leaving. Visibly soiled hands must be washed.
  • Staff must wash/sanitize hands minimum of 1 time per hour.
  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout gym – in all training spaces, office, reception, locker rooms.
  • CDC-approved disinfectant products and clean cloths are provided in each client grid to sanitize equipment after each use.
  • After each class, all equipment will be disinfected and all class members will leave before the next class members enter. A sign on the front door will indicate when you may enter for your class.
  • High touch surfaces, bathrooms, and floors will be sanitized every two hours. We use a skin safe disinfectant agent approved to eliminate coronavirus. Floors are cleaned with a commercial floor scrubber, sanitary wipes and a pressure sprayer are used for all other surfaces. A cleaning log is maintained.
  • Ceiling fans run at all times and doors remain open whenever possible to optimize air circulation and ventilation. HVAC filters have been upgraded to MERV 13.

 

Physical Contact

  • Maintain minimum of 6’ social distancing at all times.
  • No person to person touching – no high fives, no fistbumps, no tactile cueing, etc.
  • Payment methods are contact free – all payments to take place via Zen Planner app, there will be no physical exchange of cash, checks, or credit cards.
  • Contact free check in – members to use personal mobile devices to check clients in when they arrive, staff to use personal mobile devices to process retail transactions.
  • No shared chalk buckets, tape, or other gym supplies.
  • We use digital waivers, an app-based gym leaderboard, and other virtual platforms to reduce necessity and sharing of physical materials.
  • The water fountain will closed, but bottle filling station will be open; clients should bring their own water bottles, or bottled water is available for purchase.

 

Communication Plan

  • In the event of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Syracuse Sweat Club Community (staff or client) – an email will immediately be sent to all clients and staff members with a record of the infected person’s precise schedule of gym visits in the previous 14 day period. Onondaga County Health Department will be provided with same, and Syracuse Sweat Club will cooperate with any protective measures instructed by the health department in regard to further communication, cleaning, quarantine of exposed staff, or other.
